Hello from a Newbie.......

Hi everyone, just joined the forum yesterday.

I have a couple of car projects on the go and a secondhand Murex Tradesmig 160.

Santa very kindly brought me a new welding helmet with an automatic shield, so now I can start to learn welding, rather than point the shroud vaguely in the direction of a piece of metal whilst flipping down my visor.

However, I could really do with the manual for the Murex, not least so I can sort out some of the issues that have come about from years of use by the previous owner! (Don't worry, it was cheap!)

I would also like to understand what the two extra knobs marked t1 and t2 do; I get the feeling they permit welding in short bursts, but have yet to verify that.

The links to the Murex site from the "Manuals" page aren't connecting, so I assume their site must have changed, so if anyone has a .pdf file, I would be delighted to hear from them.................

The t1 and t2 have something to do when you use the spotwelding feature, you pull the trigger and the welder does the rest...i'm not sure but t1 is the time it welds and t2 is the pause time between 2 welds (spots)...

edit: yeah, weird...i can't get on the murex site either...

Mother-in Law is just about to be put on a bus after bringing her version of "Christmas Cheer" to the PW household, so I will be able to get out to the workshop without my wife being told how much I neglect her...............

Haha! i could go into this, being a girl myself... but i know we all need some space sometimes!
Lol, we had dinner at in laws house too... when she didn't watch me i fed my meat to the dog... Mr sparks saw me do it and could barely hold his laugh...


edit: post a pic of your kit, so i can explain the spot welding feature...it's a funny gadget but i don't think you will be using it a lot...

By the way, I wasn't stereotyping, I'm fairly sure she would be a PITA if she wasn't related to me in any way!

Experimenting went well, I've been concentrating on sound, having read the tutorials. The smoother I can get the sound, the better the weld seems to be..........
