Howdy guys/gals.
Been in the industry for near 32 yrs. Journeyman welder/fitter. Certified Welding Inspector with CWB Level II and hold a Diploma in Welding Engineering Technology. I have worked in the Alberta Oilfields and fab shops. Lead hand for a bit whilst in between jobs as a Sales rep. Previously sold with Union Carbide, forerunner of Praxair or to those that recall, LINDE a div of Union Carbide..of course then there was that nasty business in Bhopal..and that ended that in a heart beat.! Also worked for Canox/BOC Gases as a Technical Sales rep in Eastern Canada. Back on the tools for a few years and finally landed a job with ESAB in Caglary. Been with them 11 years..all good ones.!
Now living back in Eastern Canada..North of the centre of the Universe (Toronto)..a bit of sarcasm there.
Business is not too bad..still lots of shops doing some pretty good stuff. Auto industry is in the dumps though..(looks good on Lincoln.!)..tee hee. About time something shook em up outa their arrogance. Miller is hurtin too - whos buying equipment these days..??
As for us, well the windtower industry is rolling along quite nicely thank you, and we tend to be the preffered supplier for SubArc as well as Cored Wire consumables in North America. As for myself, I focus mainly on Metal Core/Flux core consumable business as well as Cutting Machines and Automation.
Anyway..just thought I would register..say hello and offer my experience .. and no, I am not completely biased towards yellow/black. Theres some damned good stuff that is painted blue and red. I know it, have used it and respect it.
Married w/2 teen girls (tis why I have little to no hair or money left), big honkin house with a pool (froze stiff right now), no less and drive a monster truck (57 yr old typical Alberta Redneck..and I love it.!!)
Cheers y'all,
