Hello all

While not the first post from me here(I posted a question in Clarke sub forum regarding flux core wire dia.) i just wanted to pop in and introduce myself .

I'm a industrial electrical technician, who dabbles in non- electrical things also. I have a 640 bush blueberry mini farm here on 10 acres, along with a decent amount of dogs and other pets. I picked up my Clarke 180en from my cousin (brand new - never used) for less than 1/2 of retail.


Again, just wanted to say hello, and mention that i feel this forum is wonderful and very informative

I started with the Clarke 130EN. I soon wished I went for the 180 They are good machines.

I'd switch to gas though, flux is messy.

Mmmmm blueberries, brings back happy memories, they were a bit of a novelty in my childhood, does anyone else remember when we could only buy them in tins over here?

Yup, i have a empty tank that came with all the stuff, but yet have either gotten it filled, or picked up a full one. I had a reel of flux (1/2#) core so that's the reason i've been learning on it (Was a ol part time stick welder from long ago.)

Getting it filled should not be expensive. I own a 125 CF tank, cost me about $40 to have it filled; or should I say swapped Cost me $70 the first time. The second time they gave me a jobber discount because the guy saw I had it strapped to the back of the passenger seat of my Cherokee rather than laying on the floor. Was impressed I had it strapped in real secure.

You should pick up MIG quick after stick. All is controlling the weld pool. MIG adds more knobs you need to fool with.

Post some pics as you learn, we can give tips to get you up to speed fast. I learned from here, was happily buzzing away after a few days.
