I'm Mike from Kelty.

Just joined here as I am about to start restoring my Hillman Imp.

I did a welding course as part of my.apprenticeship many moons ago but have never done anything serious.

Forgive me if I ask anything daft.!

Remember my dads too, he eventually got a californian! the real monster lol.
He often reminds me of a story when I was about 3, he was working on the imp, hitting something underneath with a hammer. When he stopped, the banging kept going, he got up to see me helping. I was hammering the wing!

Welcome and more memories of an Hillman Imp:

When I was a young un I bought one for £25 because the guy said the gearbox was kaput, turned out it was the flexible gear change shaft had stretched and would not engage the gear..cost me about £3 and half an hours work.

It even passed it's MOT with a body filler covered cardboard sill patch.
