Welcome H, to the only british based forum for DIY's, just out of interest how much do you intend to invest in you mig......helps to point you in the right direction???

somewhere around the 250 mark, i`m already thinking the Clark 130 might be a good starting point from reading the other posts ?

I got the Clarke 160 a while back off Weldequip... has served me well. A little more than you mention, but does take refillable bottles. Have a look in the shop. Which bit of Hampshire are you in? There are a couple of places I have used for gas, one in Andover, the other in Portsmouth...

i`m in Southampton, i wouldn`t mind the 160 but it`s the same old story, where do you draw the line. Initially i thought i`d get a cheapie or secondhand, spend about a 100 and see how it goes, then i spent some time on the forum............................
I think i will prob. keep to my limit, thanx for the input, as a matter of course let me have the details about the refills, as i don`t anticipate high usage (we`ll see) do i have a yearly fee or anything or just pay for the gas.

We're neighbours then! I am over in Bitterne.

The gas I get is something like £40 bottle deposit (refundable), £45 "rental" which is good for 3 years, and then £20 per refill (on a 10L bottle). Those prices are very rough guesses from memory... certainly a lot cheaper than BOC etc though.

Let me know if you find anywhere good to get metal from. The two I know about are Metal Supermarket (which I have used a couple of times, but seem very expensive) they are over by the old Meridian TV studio and Metal Mart (which has opened up a few months ago on the Belgrave Ind Est, in Swaythling, not far from Machine Mart). Not sure what they are like for prices though.

Hi Paul, used to live over that side now on the other side of town, i`ll stick with disposable for the time being, i don`t do a lot at the moment so using the Metal supermarket hasn`t been a problem and i tend to recycle where i can (no pun intended), don`t know the other one. I have a project i`m working on but it`s all aluminium, turning out to be costly...............
