Hello from Kuwait!

Hi all, I've finally joined up instead of lurking

I'm an expat currently working out in sunny Kuwait (it's summer at the mo, hit 50*C today!) and occasionally making it back home to Norn Iron.

I'm a complete newbie to welding, having recently(ish) taken on my first car restoration project; as I'm only home for a week or two every few months, I don't get to work on it as much as I'd like but the time is coming soon for me to start welding bits on before it falls apart completely. The car in question is a 1981 Range Rover "In Vogue" which was sadly abandoned outside the house for the last 7 years. So I'll no doubt be asking a few questions and for any pointers along the way

Rig Pig - there are a few massive scrap yards here which I keep meaning to check out - I just need to find a friend who can speak Arabic!

It's my old stamping ground, I grew up in Qatar in the late 70s and early 80s.

I bet there wasn't much in Qatar back then! My old man has a photo from when he visited in the 80s and there was only the one tarmac road to and from the airport I spent a couple of years myself working in Doha and up in Ras Laffan

It was quite quiet! I went back contracting up and down the gulf 12 years ago, what a difference! The only part that looked like the gulf I knew was Yeman.
