Thought i'd say hello, just registered. Great site and helped me decide to buy a used clarke 110e to fix up my latest project car.
I've not used mig before only oxy so looking forward to getting started.
Got the machine for £70 and seems ok, the spring in the swan neck seems blocked, so getting a new one tomorrow.

Well i've had a play with this little clarke with mixed results. First practice welds on thin clean sheets were easy enough but trying to patch a plate under the car was a different matter
Could hardly see through a number 10 lens and to make things worse the wire feed was constantantly start stop.
I decided to abandon the repair and investigate the wire feed problem.
Tried various settings on the tensioner screw with no success, the wire reel would stop turning about every two seconds. Looking at the front of the feed roler it said 0.6. Was this the current setting or was the 0.6 groove at the front?
I took the wire reel off to see what size the PO had been using. it was 0.6.
With the roler removed it was clear that the .6 wire had been running in the .8 side of the roler. Also the paper sticker on the wire reel had pushed inside the spool making it bind on the spindle.
After putting it back together everything is running smoothly.
I'm going to spend more time setting up the repair and see how it goes now.
Would a number 8 lens make much difference in helping me to view the weld clearer?

better lighting around the weld is prob the answer, i use 10 or 11 for everything
