Have just joined today - great site - very helpful in learning to weld better and advice on what to buy.
My current welder had finally popped its clogs (Clarke 100e), bit dissapointed, only bought it second hand in 1988 - thought I might get a bit more life out of it
Have a couple of projects, first of which is a 1993 Range Rover. Second is a1967 Hillman Imp (believe it or not, bodily far better than the Rangie).
So - quite a bit of welding to do on thin and quite thick steel and possibly aluminium (custom parts not panels) - have had a look at comments on the site and am currently convincing myself to go for a Portamig 185 - would appreciate any advice to help with my decision. I already have a full size argon mix bottle to go with it.
