my name is omkar and i moved to holland recently. i am interested in both mig welding and tig welding. i want to build motorcycles and read that these two welding types r what gives best results. however at this moment i am about to begin restoring my father in law's 1976 bmw which needs alot of patching work on the undercarriage.
i know nothing about welding whatsoever, so im thinking learning how to weld on this project will aid in fine tuning my skills, since welding a motorcycle frame requires sound welding skills.
my questions are, 1- which is considered the stronger and more suitable welding system to learn between tig and mig.
and also i see some machines have mig/mag on them. what is "mag".
and lastly: which is a good mig or tig welder for someone to begin learning the skill with? can you guys recommend some to me
i plan to use this machine on a semi professional level and also because i live in holland i dont know if some of the more reliable makes are eaisly available here.
thanks to anybody who chooses to respond.
any response will be a great deal of help
