Hello all,

I'm Bump from Cornwall. been looking at this site for a while and only got round to registering today.

Presently I am a photographer, but formally worked as both a Civil Servant and as a fitter / fabricator. These days i'm mainly doing car restoration rather than fabricating concrete moulds.

What sort of cars are you restoring? (hoping to find someone else interested in daft cars). Thanks for joining up. Your explanation of electrics makes sense to me. The books seem to focus on what but never why.

Hi Malcolm,

I'm mainly into Vauxhall Novas at the min, i did however rebuild the back end of a Toyota Yaris (the missus got it crash damaged). I'm looking to go for a more adveturous restoration project in the not too distant future, I'm thinking MG possibly. Althought there is a Bentley that someone is getting rid of ot too far from me, apparently they ran out of time on the project.

Don't buy an MG - they are rust buckets. I've restored an MGA and an MGB. The A cames from the USA so was in good condition to start with, but the MGB had been rotting away in the UK for 25 years, and needed just about every panel apart from the roof and the bulkhead! Midgets are just as bad. The new heritage shells make a lot of sense.

A Bentley sounds like a laugh if you can cope with the fuel consumption.

I shall avoid the MG route then. If I go for the Bentley I may just have to buy shares in BP to go with it! Its really a case of seeing what comes up at the right time and the condition its in.

Thank you both for the warm welcome.
I'm down in Falmouth, looking to move though.

I was building moulds for the Coote system, ranging from screed rails that form part of the Permaban system through to fence posts and pipe troughs.
Not the most interesting of jobs!
