hey guys. i'm dan, 24 from Southampton.

have been a car mechanic since I left school, and one thing I have never done, but always wanted to do, is weld. finally managed to to get my self a welder last week. picked up a Clarke 100en very cheap. it wasn't feeding wire, previous owner has dismantled it but then not much else. I have had a look, and it all seems fine so i'm assuming that the liner/swan neck/tip is blocked. I have ordered all three and will see how it goes from there. only other problem I have is the guy who took it apart seems to have lost everything to do with the trigger in the gun. I was thinking of fitting a new push to make switch, but does anyone know what amp/voltage I am looking at?

welcome to the forum dan the switch is very low voltage and I doubt 1amp so just about anything would do it

Does'nt the clarke 100en Torch have the gas valve as part of the torch and the valve is opened by the action of the original trigger.?

The contact is made by a strip of flat shaped spring metal pushed by the plastic trigger onto the metal valve body. You should be able to rig something up that works.

The other end is plugged into one of the wires with a spade receptacle.

The later torches have a plastic valve and an extra piece of metal.
