Been reading for a bit & it time to get involved.
I'm into motorcycles & the maintenance work that comes with it, since my bikes are all 20 year old & i live next to to sea ! SALT is all around...Thus RUST from inside out.
Apart from maintenance I've decided to make an fzr600 into a streetfighter & need to make a new sub frame, brackets & a fair amount of fabrication !!
I've not done this for some time & i've used other people's welding Gear in the past.
So setting my little workshop to have a proper go (budget) & i would like some help from people who do this, not sales man or the the dude in the pup !
I've been given a Clarke 85 enb gasless but it doesn't work ! no light comes on no hum sound, not a flicker. There's no wire in it, or as i should say there's a bit sticking out the torch.
Is this worth getting someone to look at it...i.e PAY them or not ??.
Another option is my girlfriend has seen an old TRIANGLE MINX which i've seen a thread on here, its the some size as an oil filled Ark but it not oil !! Are old welders of this sort good ? Will a welder like this type not be variable enough for a small DIY workshop ?
If you think both are a no go.... What would you buy for £100~200 ?
I would like to try tig too !
As with most things once i get into things i become slightly obsessed and i do need a trailer, new gates & the list can go on, there's not a massive selection of pastimes to do down here.
