Hi folks. Been lurking for ages and just put up my first post on another thread so thought I should show some manners and introduce myself. Perhaps it sounds a bit chauvanistic, but I've always enjoyed doing 'man things' in my garage and as such always get great satisfaction from acquiring new bits of kit, half of which I don't know how to use and even if I did, probably never will. So I bought a little Clarke 90EN (after all, any serious garage should have a welding set in it), played around with it a bit and produced, what I thought, were some pretty looking welds which turned out to have the sticking ability of butter. After a few years of the poor old Clarke gathering dust in the corner I decided to sign up for a night school course which I am currently doing and loving every minute of it. At last the secrets of the black art of welding are becoming clear. Used the little Clarke in anger for the first time a few weeks back to do a job on my van. What I was really chuffed about was, as I started welding I understood where I was going wrong and how to put it right. The job ended up a good un. Needed a bit of tidying up, but metal was succesfully fused with metal. Now I've got No1 daughter through her driving test I can start putting pennies away for some better kit.
