just like to say hello to everyone on the forum , i dont really know where to start so sorry if thing's come out a bit muddled up
firstly , my real name's john if you prefer to be polite and call people by there real name rather than there user name
i live in the north east area , cramlington to be precise
i'm currently training to be a mechanic but along my tavel's somewhere in a rusty old corsa , decided that i would have to learn to weld to propally fix car's that went quite well and i enjoyed using a borrowed welder , and best bit was the welding passed an mot
then the time really came to get my own welder not being loaded as us student's are i forked out on a clarke 100en turbo , gassless FTW . and well it's done me proud so far and i'm liking the gassless more ATM!
anyway's , you can probably tell by now i'm a mini nut right but i do like other classic car's
would anyone kindly tell me how you take picture's of your weld's , as today i've been fidling with the welder again and welded 2 peices of off cut box section together and was quite impresses with the weld's and wanted to show them off abit anyway's i've tryed taking a pic on my mobile phone , and i've tryed taking a pic on the laptop's built in webcam but you carn't see the detailing on the weld's just look's like a silver line between and i goes blurry on a big pic
and lastly , been looking round the forum the last couple week's and read thru the tutorial's and gathered some tip's i firstly welded to bit's of box together and then got the hammer out and bashed the hell out of it but it did not break or crack , or infact show any sign's off stress ( and i was bashing it a good 15 minute's but still nothing )
then i tryed welding abit of exhaust section to a bit of 2"x1" box so that it had a flat surface , welding came out quite well for a beginner tryed the hammer test again , to my supprise it was the parent metal that gave way first and the weld was still intact
does that mean i'm doing something right for once
, sorry for the long intro , life story over now
