Help and advice on a compressor

Hello,

You have probably had this question asked many times but what is the best compressor I can get for a budget of a max £200.

I have been reading and seem to get two views you need at least 3hp compressor (which seems to be out of my budget) or you will be fine with a small compressor.

I am wanting to spray all the little bits (backing plates, axle tubes etc) from my beetle as well as spraying my chassis and areas I have worked on with epoxy primer. I am not going to spray the whole shell this is going to be done professionally. So the biggest spray job will be the chassis.

Can anyone recommend a compressor which will meet my needs and a spray gun.

I'd say even a small compressor will handle this, with a cheapo spray gun. I did the back panel and boot lid of my MX5, only trouble you'll have is that more air hungry kit will try your patience waiting for it to build pressure back up. For a spray gun though, it'll pretty much be fine for what you're asking for it.

(Make sure you get one with at least a 25l receiver though!!)

Although at £200, careful searching for a used machine would easily see a 3hp machine. If you've got the space, it'll open up the possibility of most air tools and a much more seamless experience.

I have been looking on ebay for a while for something decent sencond had but because where in cumbria I struggle to find anything local.

I am looking at the wolf dakota 100 especially when ukhs have a vat free weekend over the bank holiday. Any one got any views on this compressor?

I'd say keep searching the net for a second hand unit. I looked high and low and ended up finding a nerly new hardly used 150ltr Sip compressor for only £150. I know Sip isn't rated as the best by far but It Si far (touch wood) it has been a great bit if kit. I run my 1/2" Chicago Pnuematic air gun from and DA regularly with no loss if power, even to the point of the motor firing up it keeps pumping air. Costco have the same one with a spray kit for £800

I have one of these and it's also for sale, but this is a lot newer than mine. It will cope with a mini gun (about 4cfm) no problem, and is supposed to be continuous duty, but I wouldn't bet any money on that aspect of it !!
