Help! Can anyone identify my compressor pump

Hi, my compressor packed up today, went into garage to hear horrible big end noise coming from my compressor.

Pulled the compressor apart and the shells on one of the journals are knakered. Crank seems to have survived so I am trying to locate some replacement shells. Shells are 25mm internal diam 28mm external and 25mm wide. They look just like a mini version of the big end bearings in a car.

Trouble is I cant find any identifying marks on the pump so hoping one of you chaps my recogonise it or can recommend a company for compressor spares. Receiver has SAI on it but I can't find anything searching for that.

Tried my local engine rebuilding shop but nothing in their catalogue was small enough.

Well, wild stab in the dark but you could try Abac and see if there's anything in their range that uses shells the same size. I know some of the smaller stuff doesn't but their B7000 (for example) looks to be not dissimilar in size to yours and the exploded diagram clearly shows shells...

Thanks for that Wedg1e. I've emailed them with the bearing sizes, maybe I'll get lucky.

I've also ben trying to find a general supplier of these type of bearings. I can't believe the're made specially for compressors. I thought of Glacier who I recall made the big end bearings for my sierra many years ago but no luck so far.

While roller and needle bearings etc are easy to obtain NOBODY seems to stock white metal shell bearings. If anyone knows better please let me know.

Somewhere I've got an ancient motoring book with chapters on remetalling bearings - but maybe you wouldn't fancy that anyway?

Well if all else fails I may have a go at that, nothing lost if it fails.

I've got amate that messes with old cars (Alvis and the like) and I've seen somthing about it it one of his books. So i would be able to borrow that.

Google "White Metalling" Lancashire you should find someone near you.

If you already have shells they may need to bore the big ends out slightly and metal directly onto the con-rods.

They'd probably need the crank as well, unless they supply the bearings unfitted, ie you'd have to scrape them in yourself.
