HELP new welder what size tip??

hi there i have just bought a mig welder i should get it on mon hopefully. it comes all set up with gasless wire at 0.6mm i was wondering if the tip will be 0.6mm too

its a wolfweld 130amp with non live torch and dual purpose.

questions are. 1. could i buy any tip and will it fit do they do a universal one??

2. if i use 0.8mm steel wire for use with gas will i need a 0.8mm tip or a bigger one to let the gas through??

any help will be appreciated as is my first welder and i am going to tech myself to weld as i have never done it before.

Gasless wire isn't made in 0.6mm diameter, so I think you will find it's already set-up with a 0.8mm tip (and wire); torch spares are readily available, although there is no 'universal' type...usually one of 2 or 3 with most machines.
If it's a dual purpose machine, ie.can be used with or without gas, stick it on gas & you will find it much better for thin sheet welding such as car bodywork

Hi winnie2457, the gas doesn't come out through the tip, it comes out around it. Your torch will be similar to this

The shiny bit at the end is the gas shroud or nozzle on this it is a push on pull of fit
with it removed you can see the tip and the bit the tip screws into, the gas diffuser. The holes in the diffuser are where the gas comes out.

The shroud then contains and directs the gas out past the tip to cover the weld pool as you weld

exellent thanks for all the pics and advice it has helped alot. i dont have the welder yet but once i do i will figure it out. also another question about the tip i will have a look but i take it like you said the tips are mostly common ie 2 or 3 different tips so i should be able to buy one from halfords for my wolfweld then????
