Help please Matt leaking torch hose

Hi Matt,

I need some help regarding my V30 AC/DC machine which is about three years old.

The machine as you will know is water cooled and supplied with an excelent WP18SC torch, all fitted with quick connect locking coolant fittings and the usual DINSE and controll connector.

Was doing a repair on a cracked crank case bolt hole and I noticed alot of coolant on the floor, I checked thuroughly and traced the problem, the hot hose that exits the DINSE connector and takes the hot coolant from the power line back to the machine has a leak in it about half way along the hose.

There is no visible damage, abrasion, holes etc etc, nothing at all?! It's just leaking from one spot. I treat my machine better than my GF, much to her disgust, so I know it wasn't just some dummy manouver on my part.

I'm NOT after a free repair here by the way just advice.

What I need to know is what series or type or brand is the male part of the quick connect fitted to the torch hose. I know if I cut back just past the leak I may be able to re connect the male fitting, but just incase I can't get the cable crimp off with out killing the fitting i'd like a spare or two!!

Can you help?

Would also be awsome to be able to get another lighter torch and know what fitting to use/order for the coolant so I don't have a load of clunky fittings banging up my beutiful machine!!

Hi Fresh,

The torch is made by Binzel, so you can get the spare parts including the quick fit connectors from pretty much any welding distributor who sells Binzel or even Parweld. The quick fittings used are an industry standard and not unique to Lorch in anyway, so this should also make sourcing them easier for you.

There is a smaller water-cooled torch available called a WP 20. Lorch do a version. which is made for us and we call it a LTW 3000. Its nice and light, can probably even see pics of it on the website.

Hi Matt, the part im after is not the DINSE power connector but the small snap lock male part for the water inlet and outlet, I have asked several suppliers of such fittings but the all ask me to tell them what series the fitting is??!!!

I managed to gently remove the hose gromit, cut back the damaged section and refit it all, works perfectly now.

Any chance of asking head office what snap fit connectors they use on the V series front pannel? this is to my mind the quickest way to get the correct series fitting.

Any use? scroll down to hose assembly, item 5.33 but there are part nos for everything including the little colour coding rings for water lines

Does it look like this, that's the type my Lincoln uses. Walsh Engineering site was being STUPIDLY slow, if it doesn't load google images 'abimig 452 water connector'

Hey Hotrodder, perfect that's exactly the thing cheers mate couldn't find that info any where. I have been after a lighter torch for ages like a WP20 I use a foot pedal and hold the torch at the ceramic for pulsed & as great as my WP18SC is it's super heavy for welding tricky joints on bikes, now I can get a weld craft with a plain handle and set up the QD connectors,
