Help setting up my Clarke compressor

Hi,

I have just had a Clarke SE16c100 compressor delivered.

Can any wise 'sages' on here offer some advice on how to :

1. Set up the electrics.
2. Set up the pipework

1. Electrics. - I was expecting to be able to put a 13amp plug on it and away to go but the manual is saying it needs to be a 30amp supply.
Can anyone please advise me how to proceed.
The building where the compressor is going to live has a modern trip switch electrics board with circuit breakers.I have previously wired this myself so know that there are spare slots for a 30amp CB if necessary.
Do I run a new dedicated cable for the compressor ?
What cable thickness is needed
What connections do I put at the end of the cable and on the compressor flex cable ?
Does there need to be a fuse in that line somewhere or will the Circuit Breaker do that job ?

2. This particular compressor has its air feed coming straight out of the middle of the cylinder and looks like its intended for 1" iron.

I wish to use the compressor for auto painting and some use with air tools so can anyone please recommend a set up that includes pipe dimensions/fittings with sizes etc suitable for that use.
Also, I require a regulator / water trap in the line and these are available in several different sizes for different connections ( 1/2", 3/8" 1/4" ) what size is recommended in order to supply the amount of air need for my uses. ?

Also what quick connectors are recommended Euro or PCL ?

Any help or pics of other peoples set ups or redirects to existing posts would be much appreciated.

I run mine off a 16A blue plug & socket without any problems.

You can get 32A versions of the blue plug and socket for this (such as http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/32AMP-32-...mponents_Supplies_ET&var=&hash=item1c39379da7). You'll run a suitable wire (it may be 2.5mm diameter, but I'm not certain) from the trip switch which needs to be the correct rating.
Bear in mind that the compressor uses a lot of power when starting up.

if it needs a 30 amp supply the minimum cable size is 4mm cable fed from 30amp mcb no need for a plug just hard wire it to a 30 amp double pole isolator or rotary isolator switch near to the comp its the starting current that will be high

I have exact compressor, I have wired mine as above, 4mm from a 32 amp breaker to a rotary isolation switch near the compressor. Not had any problems. But at work we had same model wired to a 16 amp plug by an electrician to a 16 amp breaker as he deemed that acceptable and we never had any issues with that either. A type c breaker would probably deal with the start up and when running its only about 12 amps.
Just if you wire it yourself remember that technically you shouldn't now. My 32 amp circuit was already in place for my welder so I just connected to it.
Never use both items at once so not a problem.
For my pipe work I used john guest nylon air line with drop legs and a filter regulator at the end of the line.

Mines on a 16a plug with a type c breaker, apparently this stops it tripping the breaker on start up due to the extra current drain.
