Help with a Hydrovane 13

I have an old Hydrovane 13 that I'm trying to get going. The previous owner didn't have enough power to run it. When I connected it it would run for a few seconds then trip the contactor. We thought maybe the contactor was bad so replaced it and the relay. Its still the same. I intend to drain the oil and refill bit what should I use to replace it and what else should I check? It has a 3hp single phase motor and I've connected it via a dedicated supply run in 10mm t/e on a 20amp d curve breaker

Get the motor sorted first... is it running up to speed or is it overloaded because the compressor has problems?

It runs for a bit, the compressor seems to kick in and it starts producing air then cits out. Don't know if its up to speed or not, how do I tell?

if its only 3hp the full load running amps will only be about 12 amp starting will be about 50 amp a d type is well over the top as they trip at 10 to 20 times the full load current on start up. u realy need a clamp on ammeter to see what current its pulling on start and run

Its not the MCB in the consumer unit that's tripping its the contactor that is. MCB was fitted for future proofing

What's the overload protection on the contactor ?

Don't know, there is an adjustable dial on it, is that it? What should it be set to?

Guess about 2 to 3 a over what it will run on... what's on the dial?
