I've been re-fettling a large generator (110 KVA) and am at the stage where I want to re-vamp the exhaust. It is going in a lean too where looking at the first picture both the radiator blast and the exhaust will discharge to the left hand side.
Currently the exhaust / silencer is a 24" long by 10" diameter box, coupled with 2 1/2" BSP fittings and flexi-exhaust.
Assuming that the 24" x 10" box with 2 1/2" / 63 mm bore is adequate (after all it is what was previously used) ideally I want a replacement box with a side entry and end exit both at the same end of the box in 63 mm / 2 1/2".
As a fall back I could crudely re-use the existing box with a 'U' fitting to turn the exhaust the correct way.
Either way I want the exhaust physically connected to the engine so that when I pick it up with the fork lift I don't have dangling exhausts! Presumably this will have to involve a short anti-vibration flexi and rubber mounts for the box fabricated off the engine?
I had hoped to be able to turn the manifold round so it exits at the other end, but it's not quite symmetrical, though I don't fancy undoing those manifold bolts off this 1972 Dorman 6LE 11.3 litre engine.
So does anyone have or know of a source for a box like that or have any other suggestions?
