Hi Guys,
A silent compressor my father uses recently began to take forever to fill...Upon stripping it I noticed the fault relativity quickly as air escaped just by the the pressure switch. The problem was related to the part in the attached photo. Cleaned the part and pin but has only worked temporarily. The thing is I don't know what the bloody thing is called so I can go source a replacement...It couples onto around 6 mm pipe haven't measured it yet

it looks like the unloading valve, once the operating pressure has been reached the pressure switch cuts the power to the motor and at the same time releases the pressure in the delivery pipe, making it a lot easier for the motor to re start once the pressure drops

You'll probably have to replace the pressure switch.

If this is the type of compressor that uses fridge motors you'll need the 'non-delayed' type as these compressors don't put enough air out to close the 'delayed' valves.
