heres one to pick your brains

I have a Abac b3195 3hp 200 litre tank and recently moved to a new unit and taken my compressor with me. Before this i havent used it much so heres my prob. When i use my devilbiss gti or other guns with the dgi pro guage i set it at 2bar 0.7 psi at the air cap. When the compressor is full to say 10bar i open the trigger full and after a bit the pressure drops to around 1.5 bar but the compressor still has about 7 bar left in and hasent kicked in until it reaches around 6 bar which by that time it has reached 1.4 bar at the gun??? id always believed that the compressor will kick in before you loose pressure.
But it i set it a 2bar when the compressor is running it will keep a constant 2 bar until i let off the trigger, then it will rise.

If the compressor isnt big enough whats the chances of upgrading the pump to a bigger one even though im on single phase

sounds like the pipe feeding the gun is restricting flow or regulator on tank is restricting. are u using 3/8 pipe or half inch .

Im not sure i can find out but its copper pipe around the wall with outlets .and rubber airline hose from machinemart. I thoght it may be the copper pipe so i tried it direct from the compressor with the rubber hose and its the same

When i changed to HVLP i changed the fittings on the hose to hi flow and went up in hose size, whether it made any difference i don't know as i didnt try it before but my setup is similair to yours and it works good.

if im understanding you correctly
when the compressor is full 10bar the pressure at the gun is higher (2bar) but lower (1.bar) when the comp has 7 bar left, which suggests that you regulater isnt very good at regulating

Are you using your air fed mask and your gun from the same line ?. Your problem is more than likely pressure drop, and/or not enough CFM, I have to get no less than 115psi at the regulator on the wall before my 3/8" airline to keep 2bar at gun inlet.
