Just joined and I wish I had found this site a few weeks ago when I started back at the hobby.

Been welding off and on for about 10 years. MIG and some stick.

Still a beginner, tho.

Just went out and rented a gas bottle to go from flux core to solid. I am going to be trying to fabricate motorcycle exhaust pipes from 2" regular steel and then graduating to stainless when I got some designs.

The deposit is $65. The bottle is $9/month billed after the month.

since the purchase price (80 cu ft) was $190, I figure I can wait a couple months to see how things pan out.

I can switch between gases this way too. When I am done with the 75/25 I can get tri gas blend...or have both....

Owning is not much different here. I paid $145 for an 80CF. Later I swapped it for a 125CF and they charged me $17.80.

They have no problem swapping bottles. For a refill, you are swapping bottles anyway; so they just charge the difference in price of the bottles. They said changes gasses is not a problem.
