I'm retired now, but many years ago I used to be a heating and vent engineer and did a lot of gas welding and brazing, we didn't do to much arc welding. About 10 years ago I bought myself a small MIG, Cebora 130, but haven't got round to using it until now, must admit I didn't realise what I'd been missing, I'm loving it, just making myself a fishing trolley. Some of the first welds were a bit ropey but with practice there getting better, I'll try and post some pics so you guys can tell me where I'm going wrong. Can someone tell me about welding on motor vehicles, should I disconnect the battery before welding and whats the fire risk with petrol tanks, e.g. arcing etc. not tried stainless yet, is this harder to do than mild steel?
