Just started MIG welding about 6 months ago, and love working with metal, I'm 25years old and haven't started really working in the Trade, but hope to do so soon and Work around the world one day, ohhh and if any of you know any good job sites, for international work or just anywhere, please tell.

do you chaps over in France have a different set of terminology for MIG, TIG?

Actually not Really we use the English terms, except for the ARC welding, even if we do say ARC welding the correct terminology would be SAEE, "Soudure a l'ARC a l'Electrode Enrobé"...

I presume "l'Electrode Enrobé" is referring to the shield of gas created by the flux.

Well the Enrobé, is the gaz in "hard" form, and the Electrode is kind of the Core (metal) of the "stick" lol. we also call the Core "L'Ame" (the soul)...go figure...

Hi Sparky I'm from Montpellier, just started welding after a 6 month "formation" with AFPA as a Semi-Automatique welder, I hope to find a job soon but there's not many jobs around here, have any idea to help me out? at least to start? I have a FW PF 111 and PF FW 135 licence, so I should find some things right?

I stumbled onto this site after picking up a sealy 100xt at a car boot, needed to weld new wheel arches on my car.
I have been in the welding game all my working life.
Boilers,fabricating,armour plating Range Rovers, and making disco chassis at Thompsons

I have used most machines the best ones being, The oringinal Butters before Britweld took over and kempi but with a Butters rectifier bridge.
and Miller for tig.

I have a miget oil filled ac pot, it would be nice to get a christmas tree for it, and the above mentioned sealy it did the job with out any trouble bit different from the Butters though lol

Great site nice to see young uns having a go
And as for codes lol you are only as good as your last test piece

Thank's for the reply Sparky, I actually learned English in the US when I was a kid, I stayed in the LA area for about 10 years, so my english isn't that bad lol. I hope I'll be able to use it while welding one day .

Ah! that explains it! always good to speak your languages and it looks smart on your cv too! I speak a few different languages too, Dutch (because i was born in holland) German, English and French ofcourse but you knew that already since you pm'd me in French!

I am looking to do some MIG welding on my 2CV (I live in Aude) but have not tried sourcing gas yet. Where is the best place to start looking for CO2 and CO2/Argon suppliers?
