hi there, my 3 1/2 year old son is already a mad fisherman and drags his dad away from his tools regularly, and much to my recent disbelief catches more fish than me on occasion. My wife enjoys banging nails into anything and calling up a spirit level with her I phone because she says its easier to see the little bubble Me, well I just enjoy tinkering, making, building or repairing anything I can with the limited tools and facilities I have. I am also a great beliver in re-cycling and have a number of large gash storage areas (getting larger). living in a swiss town house I am lucky to have a cellar workshop filled with the usual DIY tools and have a requirement to add another. An oxy acet gas welding and brazing kit. (I would also like a break press and a small lathe but would have to move the fishing gear out for that I have managed to get most of my welding free or bartered my time up until now, however I can buy a cheap "gas" operated kit in my local DIY for less than the call out charge of a trades man here. I did my welding and brazing during my mechanical apprentiship, but that was 30 years ago, what I actually need to do is braze a brass hinge fitting to a mild steel oven in a remote mountain shack. there after I would also like to be able to weld with the unit (become artistic).
I understand that brazing temp is lower than welding temp and perhaps a different nozzle is required but all the units I have seen for sale use different gases and there for operate at different temps.
can anyone advise me what temperatures I will need to reach in order to use the unit for both brazing and welding. Any direction would be gladly appreciated. (ps. I aint got much time, the wife wants to have a fondue party next month, that requires heating, that requires wood burning stove door back on hinges! don`t care much for the sicky smell my self, still must keep my little swiss cheese happy:
