I bought an Aldi arc welder a couple of years ago (good price and fancied learning a new skill), I finally got around to buying a decent helmet and decided to have ago.

After having a look at this site I am not only learning a lot, but being enthused to get stuck in. The first thing I learnt was that I should probably have bought a Mig Welder as I am draw to doing some arty stuff and garden items.

I'll be keeping a look out for a second hand mig, and will no doubt be back for lots of advice once I know what questions to ask!

First of all welcome, there are plenty of us that learned to stick weld before mig there is a guy on here chris that dose lots of arty stuff and gets on fine with his stick welder

I've got fond recollections of Carmarthen from years ago.

It's worth learning to use the Aldi welder. If in the future you decide you are going to do a lot of lighter stuff that it's not so good for, well it's always there in the shed to tackle stuff the MIG would struggle with, when it comes up.
