Hi all,
As a noobie to welding this forum is going to be a Godsend.
I inherited a small gasless mig welder from a friend and did a ten week ( 2hrs a week welding course at the local ( 20 miles away ) tech.).
I am retired and want to learn some new skills, so I am building a Locost ( Lotus 7 clone ) because I didn't know anything about cars. I intend to go the CO2 route instead of gasless as my son has just got a pub. My mother didn't raise a fool. Oops! After reading the gas comparison test, she may have.
So now it's; read lots of threads and practice, practice, practice.
Oh yes, I did get a fire extinguisher as well.

You're not the only old fogey on this site. What I like about it is that they call me a 'junior member'!
By the way, that's not really a picture of me on the avatar. I'm not so good looking as that.

Welcome to the forum. Don't worry too much about CO2 - it welds OK, just the arc isn't quite as steady as it can be with argoshield.

How far have you got with the Locost so far?

La Soudeuse it's been a long time since I was 'junior' as well, except in my mind of course. I refuse point blank to grow up. After all men only get married so that there will be a responsible adult to look after the kids. Me and Peter Pan, that's my motto.
Malcolm, thanks for the heads up about the CO2. 'cos I can get that for free.
As for my Locost, I am about to start on the chassis as soon as I finish putting a new front on my garage. It will have a 1300 x-flow with fuel injection to make the noise. Only because my miserable eldest son won't give his poor old dad the engine out of his new Fireblade.
