hi there,im danmayberry from cupar,fife scotland,just got into welding due to buying an old landy and needing to weld it,going to night classes and have just bought a sealey mightymig 100xt

Cool, what kind of Landy is it?
When I had one, a professional welder friend of ours welded a new rear quarter-chassis on it. We spent ages making a jig to ensure the suspension points and everything finished up in exactly the same place as they were on the old one. What we didn't find out until much later was that the chassis had been previously bodged, and the mountings were in the wrong place to start with. As a result even with brand new rear springs, the back end was sagging noticeably under no load, and when you loaded it up the mud flaps dragged along the ground! I'd noticed the back end was sagging when I bought it, but put it down to tired rear springs. We managed to fix the problem without too much difficulty by making some special spring extender brackets.

hi guys currently my truck is in bits as a welder chap i know was supposed 2be welding in new footwell and door pillar,but cant be a***d so ive started welding classes to do it myself,hes also half welded on new dumb irons that ill have 2 finish as well

It's a long story...
I have a knackered back and I'm riddled with arthritis and a few years ago I was laid up in bed unable to move. I spent the week watching old horror movies on DVD. I watched THIS MOVIE that had a character Silas, son of Silas. I enjoyed it, then did a search on t'internet for it. I discovered a review of it on THIS website and joined their forum. The handle stuck, and now I use it everywhere. I even have my own website by the same name.

Hi Danmayberry.
Have did a bit of welding Series Landys myself. Footwells and front pillar posts are a lot of work to make good. I can understand your mate giving it the body swerve. Still it`s a good vehicle to work on as everything is doable and parts are cheap. Fun vehicles.
