Hi all,

followed the forum for a while and found it really useful.
Just want to check my setup before building it....

Mechanicals is my thing but just about to start doing bodywork as well so have invested in a Clarke SE16C150 that was in the "clearance" section of my local MM at a great price. Will use it to run some powertools, body prep and paint gear.

Plan is to flexi pipe to a 15mm copper drop leg with a ball cock drain at the bottom.

Copper pipe will be T pieced with -
one feed going to a Norgren BL64 reg/filter/oiler (1/2" BSP) and then to 10mm braided hose for air tools
other feed will go to a Norgren reg/filter and possibly an additional filter as this will feed the spray gun as I want clean air.

Any thoughts on above setup and then a couple of questions:

1.Seen lots of Norgren reg/filter/oiler setups, not many dual filters - any suggestions on a good Norgren filter set up?

2.Planning to use 10mm braided/reinforced hose to keep flow as high as poss - have PCL connectors and couplers at moment but seen on other posts about UNI - do these make a real difference?

3.regulator is 1/2" BSP, 10mm pipe looks like 1/4" (not checked) - presumably you can get adapters to step down in size like this?

your plan seems fine to me use flexible piece between tank and the copper pipe to reduce vibrations/noise

Not that great an idea to use copper plumbing pipe, as its not intended for the pressures involved, and a burst might mean a very nasty accident.

Really - I had taken the idea from the paint spraying tutorial on here where it talks about compressor setup.

What would you recommend instead?

ive seen copper pipe used alot of the time with no problems. I used 25mm alcathine for mine

I'm glad to read that! Was at the merchants this morning to get some 15mm pipe, came back at saw this thread. Was not unduly bothered as the system has been on the site a long time. But was nice to see it confirmed

a small bore pipe blowing is not that big an issues it just hisses a lot we have a couple a month in our air switches norgren link

and to prevent alarm from those with bad eye sight the values are in BAR

OK, thanks guys. Have been looking at the Norgren catalogue for there tubing and connectors, looks really neat but I expect it wont be cheap
