Hi Guys,
I've been lurking for a few weeks now reading the forum (think I first found it a year or so ago) and have finally gotten around to joining.
A little bit about me, I'm 23 and a degree qualified () mechanical and electrical engineer for one of the big yellow construction equipment/mining/engine/(clothing ) manufacturers in the world (and no that’s not JCB).
I've always had a general interest in engineering/fabrication from and early age, and have found myself pursuing various hobbies around this.
I have enjoyed woodwork/woodturning/DIY for the past 10 Years, and over the previous 4 years have found myself doing more metalwork.
I've also previously worked as an agricultural engineer during my Uni times to earn some cash on the side and was taught to mig & stick weld, following learning to gas weld & braze at school many years ago.
These days I am in the early stages of building a lo-cost roadster, as well as loads of other little projects. I hope to be able to contribute some project details and photos as these progress.
Sadly my welding/metalworking kit isn’t up to scratch, I have an array of hand tools (a load of snap on from my Ag Eng days), portable power tools, a gasless mig and AC arc welder (both cheap and nasty, but useable).
As I read more on here, I am looking to buy some better kit in the near future and start building up some fab kit.
Thanks for reading, sorry for waffling on.
I’d just like to say, what a great forum, the knowledge and breadth of experience on here is great, as well as the friendly atmosphere, I hope I can contribute towards it.
Cheers, Tom.
