After many weeks lurking on here I think it's time to make my first post and introduce myself. I first started dabbling with welding back in '86 when I bought an SIP Migmate 120. Have used it on and off over the years for vehicle repairs and to stitch repair panels on a '72 T2 VW.
The old SIP had started getting very troublesome about 5 years ago so ended up buried in the back of the garage. Anyway I found this site about 4 months or so ago and rekindled my enthusiasm in welding. So I decided I'd overhaul the SIP,I had already read on here that they aren't that highly thought of. So when the old girl didn't want to play ball and just made clicking sounds when I pressed the trigger I didn't delve too deeply into finding out what was wrong so scrapped it.
So now I'm looking for a replacement,I'm thinking about the rtech 180 which seems to tick the right boxes and the interest free credit is appealing too. I'm hoping that buying a more modern and reliable machine I'll be more inclined to use it more.
