Hi There Welders & A Cebora Question

Hi all ye welders , I just came in from the garage after trying to make my Cebora pocket 130 work properly and it just blows the wire away

Then I turn it down and it sparks a bit and nought. Using gassless .8 wire .

This is much more difficult than (stick) arc welding,I thought it would be easier

The feed works ,any ideas please ?

Errr....those machines aren't designed to run with gasless wire.
There's no easy way to change the torch polarity and they're designed to be used with solid wire and shielding gas.
I'm not saying that's your problem but it probably isn't helping you.
Has it worked ok before with the gasless wire or are you just trying it out for the first time?

Hi Woz ,thanks for the quick reply just before I plugged in the old arc welder,
I previously tried the Cebora with gas and with .6 solid wire but it was the same performance that it has just done

Ok, when you say 'blows the wire away' can you be a bit more specific please? Is the weld actually being deposited or is it forming a ball then dropping from the torch?
Does it improve if you have the torch lead straighter?
If so then it could simply be a blocked torch liner and/or swan-neck spring which is causing the wire to feed too slowly.
Can you show us some pics of the attempts?

yes, the wire melts too fast as if the power's too high, but when I reduce power it struggles to get an arc at all.Will now try the torch lead straighter , back in 10 min

hi woz, tried it with the torch lead straighter but not any noticable difference but it does look like the wire is feeding slower than the feed motor is running as there's some slippage there .
Can a blocked torch liner be cleaned or best find a replacement (easy to find?) Not sure about the swan-neck spring or how to check it ?

Replace it with a steel one Steve, it'll most likely be the original plastic one, they get blocked and scored which makes feeding erratic.
All the parts you need are available in the forum shop.
Though the cebora isn't listed, if you drop weldequip a PM or ring him I'm sure he'll sort you out with what you need.
I can't guarantee that'll fix your problem but if the rollers are slipping on the wire then it does sound like there's probably a blockage.
The other thing to bear in mind is that flux-cored wire is soft and is usually fed with a serrated roller, the one you have is smooth for solid wire.

Check if there's a plastic liner in the torch swan neck instead of a spring, they can cause problems as well. I had to melt one out of a swan neck it was so stuck and it worked better without one.

I had a 130 turbo, mine definitely had a spring.
