I have been watching the progress of many projects and generally browsing the forum for a couple of months now and have decided to join.
I haven't got a welder but my brother has one, he refuses to use it because he claims it doesn't work. A little while back i had a friend set up the machine for him - removed the corroded wire etc. for some reason the wire was spurting. As if someone was on a tig foot trigger stopping as starting. We found that the wire was slipping on the feed and minimised this. For some reason the welder tends to spit a lot in any conditions.
So from my explenation you can see I haven't got the best platform to learn on but i think it should be fine.
I have the intention of learning when i get home from my holiday. I have recently been made redundant from my position as a signwriter, I have trained in college for Site Carpentry and spent a year as carpenter before moving on. As im still young enough - 20yrs, i hope i can open my options even further. I also have a car to practice on when I'm good enough.
Oh and hello to chunkolini if he reads this as I'm the young fool he met at the Clunker Classic
