High temperature car paint.

I have a pair of rocker covers on an Essex to spray RAL1004 Golden Yellow. I have some paint of that colour made up by a bodyshop in 1K acrylic (cellulose) and put into an aerosol. I am tempted to try this on the rocker covers, but I wonder how it is likely to stand up to the heat cycling. I know I could buy VHT but a) it isn't the right colour and b) I would have to buy it and leave what I have on the shelf. So is it a daft idea, or might I get a few years service from it?

You don't need VHT on rocker covers, they don't get hot at all, I use 2K on my engines and it don't burn off ever, You only need VHT on exhaust manifolds

Sorry for hijacking the thread but was going to post about this. I want to paint engine gearbox axle case diff etc and seem to remember Langy saying you could use epoxy primer and then 2 pack gloss top coat! Just wondering if this would be ok even in the cylinder head on the manifold mating face?

Chris you shouldn't really be painting the gasket faces, they should be masked off ideally, Yes epoxy primer (2 light coats) and 2K topcoat either straight paint or BOC is fine.

BOC sells gas, COB is clear over base. If you put the base on top it will still be a matt finish

Should of said COB which is clear over base
