Highland Stag - from the start

I said I would post progress pics of my next build so it starts here :-)

The brief is “highland stag, do it however you like but it needs to fit in the car”.

I get bigger stags than that in my car

it looks bigger than it is (sort of!!) but it will have detachable antlers and she has a big car :-)

Some more progress today, remodelled the head a bit and made it removable so it will definitely fit in the customer’s car :-)

Will continue on Monday, may have it finished by the end of next week depending on motivation and inspiration:-)

Finished the head today. Added some stubs that the antlers will slide on, this eliminates transportation issues :-)

Antlers next, then I’ll adjust a few bits on the body that I’m not happy with.

Good call on the antlers, I must have zoned out when I was fitting the stubs!
Now repositioned:-) For years to come I want people to marvel at the amazing brilliance of the sculptor rather than being picky about the antlers haha

Tail is going on last, I also have a few adjustments to make before it’s finished.

Also, the breed is ‘metallicus silverous stagus’

yes, 6mm plain mild steel rod - mostly from Brunner - for all of it except a small part in 4mm, and the antlers are in a higher grade which are free offcuts from a crane factory - NOT very bendy!

Pretty much finished now, just need to go over the antlers and a few areas with the flap-wheel & wire brush to smooth a few welds then it’s done :-)
And a pic near the car for scale.
