Hi, Everyone,
Some of you may remember I was about to start this project for my daughters 40th B'day celebration,Well after putting my thinking cap on came up with this design, And it worked perfectly,took nearly seven hours to cook the 50+ kilo organically raised pig.Not a bad result for someone thats only cooked sausage and chips before,Total out lay was about £130-00 everything else was donated by family,friends and enybody that even remotely owed me a favour,Motor and gearbox are heavy duty Parvalux donated by my brother-in-law giving a final drive of 6.5 rpm then further reduced to 2 rpm via a couple of moto-cross sprockets and 520 chain, mirror stainless is cladding from one of my sons road tankers,Free logs from son-in-law's fallen trees, Enjoy.

Hello Wyn,
All shiny parts are stainless, As mentioned it's from a road tanker cladding, nice and easy to work,very soft,don't know what grade but it is 0.025" thick,perfect for this job,really reflected a lot of heat towards the spit,The 20mm box section that forms the hood was curved by hand between 2 big pins held in the vise,quite easy really, now making a matched pair that took a little time,

You lucky man!!,Daughter raises a few old spots.along with a few Indian game birds,ducks,sheep and prize winning Aberdeen Angus, one of their 14month old heifers won best in show at this years Great Yorkshire Show,(got a silver rose bowl as big as a dustbin lid)!!! Don't know where she finds the time or energy,her real job is international H.R. director for Thomson-reuters the news agency.

Daughter has hired one a few times(gas powered) for family do's and it's cost her around £300-00 and then you supply your own pig, So this year she asked in plenty of time if her retired old dad could find time to make one as a birthday present, Glad to do it,
P.S. May look into the possibility of converting to propane as well if i can find 4 of those ceramic type heaters, Maybe some old kebab gear would do,or some of those Super-Ser heaters that were everywhere a few years ago.

Motor and attached reduction box is made by Parvolux, there a few different styles of gearbox output shafts, Excellent quality

Nice try Bullet2012, Daughter 50th very quiet affair, thanks to the dreaded corona virus, These are pic's from the fortieth b'day. Daughter Andrea had organised a really good magician that wandered from table to table doing great "tricks" etc, Also the portrait caricature artist that did really good sketches in about three or four minutes, And finally the birthday girl with her two brothers, Very rare I get to see them together, A great day was had by all.
