home made oiler for myford lathe

using the supplied oiler for a myford is a poor affair and leaks all over from the plastic screw on cap in use . shox doctor on here was selling the oilers minus the oil bottle we bought a few and my brother made a copper bottle for them and used brass bsp couplings for it / the bottle is made from 2inch copper tube and formed copper end caps silver soldered in it works perfectly for the job without leaks

just a pity my photography wasn't as good

on my Myford have removed all those stupid spring ball bearing type oilers and replaced with a Nemo magnets over the holes, for for the saddle sides I made an oil dropper out of a large grease nipple with a home made screw...they hold enough oil for my needs......
can only find the photo of them fitted to the Colchester.....but u'll get the idea.....

Is this to replace the drip feed oilers for the main headstock bearings?

My lathe has this type fitted & they are rubbish. They are impossible to set correctly - either no oil at all or too much & they empty themselves when the lathe isn't used, despite being switched off!

I'd be interested to know more about yours & how they work.

not the main bearing oilers just the countershaft saddle leadscrew and tailstock backgear oil points etc

From memory, these are 1/8" BSP. You could add a couple of male-female 1/8" lever ball valves and under the oilers.
