home made regulator valve for pot

decided to make a regulator cast in ally as the couple of steel; ones I made were a bit small. they worked well using finer grit but didn't regulate 2 well on the coarser grit . this ones a larger chamber and a larger outlet hole under the gate. I made a couple of wooden patterns up nothing flash needed then brother cast them for me in his small foundry . they were easy to machine up being aluminium . the internals were made of stainless steel and I made a bronze bush for the regulator rod its all assembled and will work famous last words ive got a few bits to blast this weekend weather permitting so will see how it goes

Looks good i might copy that idea i am about to have a play with a setup just for blasting with crushed walnut shell as soon as i get a chance.

well got the pot out today and blasted a couple of items 1 being a 1898 railway clamp a lot of heavy rust on it . the valve worked perfect using the heavy grit without blocking or need regulating once it was set. its a 1 and a half bag pot and the grit goes a long way . the blasting is ferocious and very painfull even when the grit has bounced off the job it stings through jeans and overalls really need to wear wellies and plastic trousers for safety

I used some 10mm copper piping with holes tapped into it. Cheap, quick and absolutely no blockage or flow problems
