Hi
this genny is as new, had it years and only done light domestic duties.....
useing it the other day with a med size 240v drill.....it just stopped powering, the engine kept running perfectly......
tested the drill and extension lead on the house supply , all worked fine....
the engine started fine first thing as always, tested the 240 socket with a fluke --nothing....
did the same for the 110v socket, then the engine suddenley laboured and stopped running.....
pulled the socket cover off, nothing found nothing, no loose or damaged wiring.....
then pulled the gen end cover, same thing but a little light dust.....
no burning or burnt smells........
removed the exciter brushes, they are like new and free to move.....did a continuity test on the brushes in the holder, all fine.....
no burn marks on the pick up rings but polished them anyway with 500 wet n dry....
put it all back together....and tried to run it.....
the engine tries to start but literally after the first rev or two it sounds like it hydraulicing.....so excess elec load stalling the engine ??????
can anyone help please.....?
it'd be a shame to bin it.....no idea as yet of anywhere to repair it.....
