Hi, as a few of you may remember, I had a thread up a while back about buying a generator which concluded with me buying a 4kW Honda item. Since then, I've bought a welder and another generator which is the one I'm going to use, for the princely sum of £30. I'll be fixing up the one I bought first and shifting it on, if anyone here is interested. The new one is only about 2.7kW output and pretty ratty looking, but it's more than enough for what I need, and more importantly this one actually has a 230v socket.
However, the reason it was cheap, is that the recoil start doesn't work, but I didn't think this was a problem as I could just swap the ones I have. How naive. The 'cup' that the starter engages with is different between both, as was the the mechanism inside. The starter on the new one doesn't engage at all through the whole length of the cord, regardless of how fast you pull it. The other one I put on, would try to engage and slightly catch, but then slip. I managed to bodge the two into one that would work, but was not ideal as it was slowly mashing up the arms on the starter and they'd occasionally pop out, requiring disassembling, fixing and reassembling roughly every other start.
They're all pretty ******** now and I'm looking to just buy a new one, but there seems to be so many options on ebay so I'm looking for advice from people that know more than me on which to buy. These are the ebay listings: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_f...60+.TRS0&_nkw=honda+gx160+pull+start&_sacat=0
Picture dump:
The mechanism from the new one (it does have two arm things, one fell out):

You can see how the arms fall out, the slot the the 'cap' allows it to flex and release the teeth.

The 'cup', approx. 68mm diameter, protruding from the casing 20mm, with four square cutouts at roughly 15mm^2 each.

If anyone can see which would be best to buy on eBay, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks.
