Honda gyro 3wheel delivery scooter/bike

found an old Honda gyro with a dead engine.....(50cc 2 stroke)...

most of the engine is missing.......
need something to run around our place, no road use.....
anyway was thinking of converting it to electric using the original transmission.....twist n go........
been looking at 48vx2000w motor kit from china......or perhaps a Honda stationary 4 stroke from a water pump or the like...
think I prefer electric tho.....would use wheel chair batts.....it wont have to do many miles per charge....dont need mad speed iron....
what do ya think...anyone done something like this.....?

an old wheelchair motor would be a sensible option but a V8 would sound better

What type of axle is in it?
Would almost look for a front end crashed (electric) scooter as a donor.

sadly very few assisted wheelchairs even fewer elec scooters....
it has a diff with a belt drive, vari speed gearing just like a twist n go scoot....

Guts from a mobility scooter would be the way to go I reckon. You then get everything you need, motor, speed controller, BRAKES! The deluxe mobility scooters have lights and indicators too.

The fact the trike has two wheels at the back should make it easier.

How fast do you want to go? Think they're only about 8mph max...

Think about the rotation speed of the prime mover before you spend money. The IC engine will go at maybe 6k rpm as input to the transmission. The electric motor might go considerably faster. Electric drives are generally clutchless; the IC engine will likely have a centrifugal clutch.

Worth bearing in mind that basic Jap bikes from the 70s and 80s are very collectible, before you make it into a 'special'?
