the wife hasnt seen it yet...
if she dont like it it will end up in my workshop

with hindsight i perhaps should have cleaned thrm up a bit first

Don't clean them up.

Place in the garden and let nature give it a nice brown tone.

I think they look better that way.

Used to see lots when I lived in the north of England , not seen one here in Belfast for ages , squashed or otherwise

i oil blacked it... everywhere apart ftom the muck in the grooves

Lay a load face up on the grass and blast with a pressure washer to get the muck out.
Or warm them slightly in the forge and tap upside down on the anvil..
