Hoses and fittings

Morning all,

Now that my compressor is up and running, I'm itching to get my hands on some tools, but I've fallen at the first hurdle; hoses and couplings.

I primarily want to run two tools: a spray gun (1.4 nozzle) and an impact wrench (probably Stanley, but definitely 1/2"). The compressor has two Quick-Release fittings, but no regulators or filters yet.

Because I haven't got my hands on the tools, I don't know what sort of fittings to expect; screw threads, push-in clips or whatever. So is it best to just get adaptors for each tool, and have Quick-Release fittings on the hoses? I'll probably have to make the hoses myself, since there's not many Air Tool shops over here.

With the impact gun it's a good idea to make a "whip hose" as the vibration can release the quick-release.
Most air tools have a female 1/4" BSP fitting

Ok, so it's recommended to permanently attach a length of hose (0.6m) to vibrating tools, with a quick-release clip at the other end, which then attaches to the hose coming from the compressor. I can understand that.

And that way, one long hose can be used to power all the tools, and each tool results in the same standard ending. Cool.

The Sealey gun I'm looking at comes with a number of connectors for various hoses, so I guess it will be best for me to make my own from rubber rather than buy so many pre-fab bits.
