How do I (easily) replace this regulator on a SIP airmate compressor?

The pressure regulator on this needs replacing but unscrewing it means taking most of the compressor apart so that I can unwind it from the pressure switch. Seems an odd design.

Therefore, my approach is likely to involve an angle grinder to get the old one off but is there a some kind of coupler I could use between the new regulator and the pressure switch so that I don't have to rotate the new regulator to get it back in situ? Open to other ideas of course. It's to be used for fairly low power tools so I'd prefer to keep the regulator on there rather than remove it completely. Thanks

Yeah it's similar, although the previous owner appears to have removed one bolt and bodged it up with some kind of epoxy glue so taking it apart ain't quite as easy as it should be.

Nearly but not quite. It'll still foul on the pressure gauge below as well as on the plastic shroud.

Unscrewing the tank pressure gauge might give enough room to unscrew the regulator. The black cover would need to be removed also.

Personally I'd remove the black plastic regulator part as Cheb stated above, then remove the regulators base, now unscrew the quick release coupling and then seal/screw the coupling back into the thread where the regulator was. Now go online to Vevor buy the regulator and water trap assembly below, plus other PCL XP air line adaptors and make up a short connection hose to link the too...as required.....job sorted.

I'd go with the angle grinder approach and cut the body small enough that you can then turn it out without it fouling anything. You then need to buy yourself a pipe union and whatever pipe nipples necessary. The pipe union will then enable you to connect the new regulator without turning it. Fittings should all be galvanised for compressed air.

Just wanted to add that be careful when dismantling the regulator before cutting it as there will be a large spring in the body which can fly off with some forces when you open it up.
