how do you calculate a receiver size?

ive bought a fairly large air compressor but it doesnt state how many litres the tank holds, can you divide length/breadth/width for a rough approximation ?

length * diameter * diameter * 0.785 = volume

Estimate the inside sizes.

If measured in meters: 1 m^3 = 1000L, so multiply by 1000 to give liters.
If measured in cm, divide by 1000 to get liters
If measured in feet, then it will give cubic feet.
