defeatistI got the calling to help someone out, today. Took one look,then walked away.
The big splodge that looks like a burst boil, some geezer tried welding solid bar to hang exhaust.....
i get peoples crap to put right most days before i even start my job

Nah, offender was off, today. He's also East European, watch out for shopping trolleys that weight similar to a Chieftain Tank

He he. I did one similar to that a few weeks back. Took me all day, to do it. The exhaust was now corroded paper thin so i had to re plate it. Trouble is i had nowhere thck enough for the 'thick' 1.6mm plate to weld to. (I had to MIG it i couldn't afford the £80 for a new bottle of pure Argon)
Good job it was for my brother and that i had nothing better to do or i'd have thrown it back at him. I did it eventually but it looked well rough.

I often do welding repairs for a motorcycle shop,
Several months back i was given a corroded exhaust to do from a Honda,
i explained it didn't appear to be financially viable and he'd be better off buying a new one, apparently new was £500!
Ended up splicing in a new piece of tube and having to roll up a large cone shaped patch to weld into the silencer.
