It should tell you the year on the test plate on the receiver.

I got this as a freebie and i added the Clarke regulator so the compressor owes me £29,and it seems to work fine.

The plate seems to be missing,i reckon it must have been where you can see the red oxide colour paint in the first picture?

They are normally on a riveted plate or punched into a welded plate or even straight on the concave end bit on the receiver

I probably sound a bit thick asking this question,but im a newbie where it comes to compressors.Will the filter really be ok where you have fitted it straight from the compressor,or is better to be mounted on the wall just above it?

It's OK there, but a large compressor is not likely to be moved around so I would install an airline system in the workshop working at tank pressure and locate regulators at the points where air is required.

This will help cooling the air and airflow.

Hi the compressor is from around 1960, but it may be from late 50's too, Mine is from early 60's, my father owned Aerostyle company, and its premisses were in Sunbeam road Acton London.
