How or best way to repair a crack

I welded the boom up to keep it going Sunday but I need to get at it next Sunday put a full day in it its been plated before it looks like the plate split and some one else had a go at it its repaired but it's temporary from my point of view so Sunday I'm grinding everything back I have lo highs 2.5 can get 3.2s got normals to, 6013 how is best to attack this also the driver is screwdriver

Got to be aware of were to place the wilds on plate repairs and if it is to stop a crack the ends of the crack should usually be drilled at the ends
Just running a weld all the way round is not the best move
Rod of choice secondary to this stuff

I agree but the machine is working all day everyday with the option of Sunday at 6 in the morning I got a small window but I've spoken to dad and if the weather is good I'm gunna strip grind drill and weld it the machine is on oh it's last legs but we ant found one to replace it.
I've got rods of 7016 7018 and 6013 at my disposal for this I might use 2.5 7016 root and 3.2 6013 cap

1/8 7016/7018 for that job. I'd pack the quiver and leave the rutile at home.

3.2 rods 7016 it is I do like boher but I think my supplier gets various rods can be hit or miss with supplies it's them French ones he stocks some times

Certainly a job for 7016/7018, not 6013.

To do a decent job, grind off the old plates, vee out the cracks underneath, drill holes at the ends of each crack and weld up.
Then plate over the lot.

Low hydrogen are the obvious choice of consumerble but correct procedure is the most relivent for a lasting and safe repair

On a serious not I've got a lot of prep and work to do this Sunday on it they want to prep it for me I'd rather not thanks last time they preped something they cut a half inch hole and told me a real welder can fill it I said u best find one coz yes I can fill it but I ain't being paid enough for that

I kid u not 7 pound welding rods to do this job I think I'm not gunna be doing that job

Cracked roll on roll off 3 passes with some 2.5 bhoer 7016 from the oven and a pass through the top with a 3.2 super cito rod 7018 I'm still not a fan of these rods I've got a little better with controlling them but the door certainly won't fall off
